This Week: IWC, Audemars Piguet, Glashuette Original and Laco

2019/06/08 by Dale Vito

Whoops, I skipped a week! We had a public holiday, I did some cycling in Belgium, and one of our team members was off – which means it was pretty uneventful here on WatchBase.

This week I ramped it up. I’m nearing the completion of our update of the Glashuette Original collection, which was a pretty heavy project. Again, our intern Ruben worked on his Laco stuff and is almost finished with that too. Here and there we added a few other new watches too. Our favs?

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar White Ceramic

Okay, it’s a bit bling, but come on – this is hot right? All you need this summer is a nice tan, a blue linen shirt and a pair of swimming shorts and this AP. LINK!

IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month

I must admit that I’m not the biggest fan of this generation of IWC’s Ingenieur. The more pedestrian variations look too dull and generic. But spice it up with the brand’s digital perpetual calendar chronograph movement and it’s perfect. LINK!

Glashuette Original PanoMatic Lunar

As said I again added a bunch of new GO’s. This week’s favorite? I think it’s the PanoMatic Lunar in stainless steel – blue. With a pin buckle, just because. LINK!

Laco Squad Watch Mojave

Laco is best known for its pilot’s watches, but this dive watch doesn’t look to shabby either. LINK!

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra Thin

Another Royal Oak, another Perpetual Calendar? Yes, but this is the production version of the RD#2 of SIHH 2018. A mind-boggling exercise in fine mechanical engineering. LINK!

This Week: Panerai, Glashuette Original, TAG Heuer and Laco

2019/05/25 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

Over the past week I’ve started a much overdo update of our Glashütte Original entries – and not quite finished yet! Ruben has been working on his Laco project, while we’ve also had a few wildcards added here and there. Our favorites?

Panerai Luminor 1950 Paneristi PAM01080

Another Paneristi edition? No problem if they look as good as this one? The Pam 1080 is a limited edition of 60 pieces created for the German-speaking markets. It’s basedd on the 372 but with a cool brown dial and other subbtle tweaks. LINK!

Glashütte Original SeaQ 1969

What are your thoughts on the new SeaQ by Glashuette Original? I’m not sure yet and I’d love to see one in the metal before my final judgement! LINK!

Glashütte Original PanoLunar Tourbillon

The Pano-series is the quintessential Glashütte Original and the PanoLunar Tourbillon is one of the best – especially on this matte alligator strap. LINK!

TAG Heuer Monaco 1969-1979

The TAG Heuer Monaco CAW211V.FC646 is the first (likely of many) piece introduced in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Monaco. It’s boutique-only, limited to 169 pieces – so run! LINK!

Laco Pilot Watch Venedig

Ruben has made great steps with our Laco database. There’s so many pilot’s watches it’s hard to choose one, but I quite like this one with full-lumi dial. Not sure what the link is with Venice though? LINK!

This Week: Vacheron Constantin, Damasko, Omega, Laco and Oris!

2019/05/18 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

In the past few weeks I took on a few major projects such as updating our Omega and Breitling entries, which was an awful lot of work. This week I took things a bit slower – but we have some great watches nonetheless!

Vacheron Constantin FiftySix

I started the week by updating our Vacheron Constantin database, mainly adding prices to those that didn’t have one yet. I also added a couple of new ones, including this FiftySix on bracelet. LINK!

Damask DH 3.0

Our intern Ruben started this week, and first on his list was Damasko. I really like these – especially this green-dialed DH3.0. LINK!

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M

Omega finally released its 2019 novelties – and they’re good. Of course there’s the Speedmaster, but how about this Seamaster 300m in Sedna? LINK!

Laco Rad-Aux LTD

Next for Ruben is another German watch brand: Laco. The first one we uploaded is this Rad-Aux ltd they did with Ablogtowatch. What do you think? LINK!

Oris Aquis Star Wars Stormtrooper

I missed this one when it was originally released, but it’s here now: the Aquis Stormp Trooper. This limited edition of 1300 pieces was created in 2018 for the Chinese (+Taiwanese and Hong Kong) market. LINK!

This Week: Breitling

2019/05/11 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

This week I’ve been busy updating our Breitling section. I updated the prices and added a lot of missing configurations. I just finished the current collection and I’m now looking to improve the data we have on past collections too. This week’s list is thus 100% Breitling – but don’t worry, I picked the best!

Breitling Avenger II Seawolf Cobra Yellow

I LOVE Breitling’s bold dial colors – and this Avenger II is one of their best. The combination of the cool stainless steel, the yellow dial and the black rubber strap is stellar. LINK!

Breitling Transocean Chronograph

Who doesn’t fancy a good reverse panda? It’s paired with a golden brown calf leather strap on this Transocean, and it looks the business. LINK!

Breitling Emergency II Night Mission

The Emergency II is a wild watch in any configuration, but this boutique exclusive ups the ante. It features a carbon fiber dial with yellow accents, yellow hands and a bright yellow rubber strap. LINK!

Breitling Aerospace Evo

Breitling’s ana-digi expertise but in a more discrete package – the Aerospace Evo. I think this model might be up for a restyling later this year, but I for one hope they won’t mess with it too much. LINK!

Breitling Superocean Heritage II 42

Last but not least – and another one in blue-on-blue. I think the SuperOcean Heritage II is a stellar watch, especially in this latest generation which features a ceramic bezel insert and a Tudor-sourced movement. LINK!

Best of week 18: TAG Heuer, MB&F, price increases for Omega and Breitling!

2019/05/04 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

Missed last week’s post? I’m sorry! Between the days off for Easter and King’s Day there was so little left that it wasn’t really worth putting up a post for. But this week I’m back!

Both Breitling and Omega have increased their prices per May 1st. Omega’s latest price list has almost 1.200 unique references, whilst Breitling’s is 28 pages. Aside from updating prices on watches listed, this also allows me to make up our inventory and see what’s missing. Can you imagine the work? Most of the watches I’ve added are thus not new releases, but rather missing configurations of existing models.

TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph

I finally managed to add the TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph models – not sure why I hadn’t before? My fav is probably the black dial on leather. LINK!

MB&F Split Escapement Titanium / Green

Our MB&F database is a thing of beauty – if I may say so myself. I’m sure there’s some custom and unique pieces missing, but otherwise it’s fairly complete. The latest is the Split Escapement in titanium with a green back plate for the three ‘dials’. LINK!

Price increase: Omega Seamaster 300M

The Omega Seamaster 300M is a watch that was hit quite hard by Omega’s latest round of price increases. This 210.30.42.20.06.001 went from EUR 4.500 to EUR 4.900. Ouch. LINK!

Price increase: Omega Speedmaster Professional

The Speedy Pro already enjoyed a price increase earlier this year. The 311.30.42.30.01.005, just to name one, went up from EUR 4.300 to EUR 4.600. That’s it? No. It is now EUR 4.700. LINK!

Price increase: Breitling Navitimer 1 Chronograph 41

Breitling too has increased their prices, although it’s mostly pre-2019 watches that have been affected. This Navitimer 1 Chronograph 41 for example. LINK!

Best of week 16: IWC, Oris, Certina and Tissot

2019/04/20 by Dale Vito

Welcome back to our weekly segment that highlights a couple of interesting additions to our ever-expanding database.

This week I didn’t take on any major projects really. I filled in a few gaps, went through our resources to find some cool & obscure pieces, and that’s it. There are a few cool new pieces though;

IWC Portugieser Chrono-Rattrapante Boutique Milano

Feels familiar right? The IW3712-22 is the stainless steel version of the 2016 IW3712. It is made in 150 pieces for the Milan IWC boutique. LINK!

Oris Divers Sixty-Five 43 Chronograph Bucherer Blue

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five 43 Chronograph is one of the latest installments in Bucherer’s Bucherer Blue series. Did you notice the indexes are different compared to the 2018 Carl Brashear version in bronze? LINK!

Tissot Entrepreneur One

Tissot has been doing retro editions since before it was even a thing. Really. Look at this 1998 Entrepreneur One – looks cool no? It’s even fitted with a plexi crystal. LINK!

Tissot Heritage Chronograph

Another cool one – the 2009 Heritage Chrono. This limited edition of 3333 pieces has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 40mm and is powered by the self-winding 7753. LINK!

Certina DS PH200M

A cool watch doesn’t necessarily need to cost big money. The Certina DS PH200M was released at BaselWorld 2018. It pairs cool vintage looks with an ETA movement with 80 hours of power reserve. For EUR 695! LINK!

Best of week 15: Longines, Cuervo y Sobrinos

2019/04/13 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

Welcome back to our weekly segment that highlights a couple of interesting additions to our ever-expanding database.

I warned you in my previous post, but this week has been all about updating our Longines section. There have been only a few others here and there – and I’m far from finished… For this list I’ll pick out a few cool ones though, I promise.

Longines Master Collection 44 Chronograph 100th anniversary of the Republic of Portugal

44mm might be a bit much, but just look at that case back! This limited edition of 100 pieces was created in 2010 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Portugal. LINK!

Longines HydroConquest 39 Star Navigation

Sadly I must admit I don’t have many details on this obscure version of Longines’ popular Hydroconquest dive watch. It looks stellar though! Get in touch if you have more info on this. LINK!

Longines HydroConquest 41 BlackOut Japan

How is that the Japanese often get the best limited editions? They always seem so tasteful and well-informed. This 500-piece limited edition of the HydroConquest has a PVD-coated case and red accents on the insert. LINK!

Longines HydroConquest 41 Automatic USA

Grey everything! This USA-exclusive edition of the HydroConquest has a stainless steel case with grey PVD-coating, a grey dial, and a grey ceramic bezel insert. LINK!

Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Flameante

With the help of Cuervo y Sobrinos themselves I also begun working on adding their watches to our database. First up? This Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Flameante. LINK!

Best of week 14: Oris, Certina, Longines, Karoshi

2019/04/06 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

Welcome back to our weekly segment that highlights a couple of interesting additions to our ever-expanding database.

I’ve spent the majority of this week updating existing entries and filling in gaps – in other words, not all entries are new 2019 releases.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five 40

Who doesn’t like a good Divers 65? This one has the 40mm case, but pairs it with the more traditional dial lay-out that was first seen on the larger versions. A slight dash of bronze, supple rubber strap – perfect for summer ’19! LINK!

Certina DS-1 Powermatic 80 Himalaya

One of our API users had put in a request for a couple of watches, including a couple Certina’s. Among them this DS-1 Powermatic 80 Himalaya. I like it. Cool vintage-inspired looks, 80 hours of power reserve, and it’s sensibly priced too. LINK!

Longines Conquest V.H.P. GMT

The biggest project I took on this week is updating our Longines database. This will involve quite a bit of work as a lot of them have been using updated movements (L619 versus L888 for example) without the actual reference numbers having been updated. But perhaps that’s a story for next week. This week’s pick is the Conquest V.H.P. GMT in 41mm with carbon fiber dial and rubber strap. I love me a good quartz watch and I think the V.H.P. -especially the GMT- is very interesting from a tech perspective. LINK!

Longines Master Collection Annual Calendar

Another Longines? YES! Somehow this was missing from our database. I’m not the biggest fan of the Master Collection aesthetics, but an annual calendar for EUR 1.960 list? Count me in. LINK!

Karoshi K-011

Ok, that’s a lie. This was added nor updated this week. But this list needed a bit of spice and I found it in the form of the Karoshi K-011. LINK!

Best of Week 13: Lange, Bvlgari, Rolex and more Rolex

2019/03/30 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

Welcome back to our weekly segment that highlights a couple of interesting additions to our ever-expanding database.

For the past week I’ve been out-of-office for a couple of days, while the others were mostly spent updating our Rolex section with new models and new configurations – which means tons of new Datejust and Day-Dates for example. Still, in this week’s list there are no less than TWO highlights that are not Rolex! Impressive, no?

A. Lange & Sohne Kleine Lange 1 25th Anniversary

Even though this is only the fourth of a total of twelve limited edition watches celebrating the 25th anniversary of the resurrection of the A. Lange & Söhne brand, the formula already feels familiar. A bit too perhaps? This notwithstanding this petit Lange 1 is a stunner. And limited to only 25 pieces! LINK!

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Ceramic

I think the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo is a smashing watch not matter the material in which it is executed. The latest is this black ceramic one and it seems that once again the Roman-based manufacturer has hit a home run. LINK!

Rolex Datejust 36

Ok, so here we go with the Rolex. The Datejust 36 in stainless steel (topped of by a white gold bezel should you wish) was one of the BaselWorld 2019 novelties and it already comes in a wild number of configurations. One of my favs is one of the simplest – this 126200-0003 with a domed bezel, black dial and Jubilee-style bracelet. LINK!

Rolex Day-Date 36

Feeling lucky today? Why not ditch the Datejust 36 in favor of something a bit more, well, everything: the Day-Date 36. One of my favorites is this white gold 128239-0023, which has a fluted bezel and a blue vignette dial (which the R calls Ombré) with diamond-set hour markers. LINK!

Rolex Daytona

Whilst browsing the Rolex website it occurred to me that a couple of Daytona’s had gotten new reference numbers. I’m not sure what separates this new 116518LN-0047 from the earlier 116518LN-0039, but it still looks stunning! LINK!

Best of Week 12: Breitling, Zenith, TUDOR, Rolex and NOMOS.

2019/03/23 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

It’s been a while – my bad! I’m going to try and bring some new life to our blog by doing a weekly segment that highlights a couple of watches that I’ve added to our database. Easy-peasy right? So without further ado, here’s my favorite watches of week 12 – the week of BaselWorld 2019 and Swatch Group’s Time To Move event.

NOMOS Club Campus 36 National Breast Cancer Foundation

Ok, so this is not a BaselWorld release, but it was added this week nonetheless. The NOMOS Club Campus 36 708.S2 is a special edition (not limited) created by NOMOS, Timeless Luxury of Texas, USA, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It says Have Hope where we usually find Made in Germany. How good is that?

Breitling Navitimer Ref 806 1959 Re-Edition

The Breitling Navitimer Ref 806 1959 Re-Edition is a near-perfect copy of the -you’ve probably guessed it- 1959 Navitimer 806. The tech behind it is thoroughly modern though; it is powered by the brand-new caliber B09.

Zenith Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Adventure

Is it me, or are green dials a bit of a thing at the moment? The Zenith Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Adventure has one – paired with a bronze case and a wild camouflage-colored alligator strap.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G Chronograph

I expected a Black Bay GMT S&G, but Tudor gave us a Black Bay Chronograph S&G. And I like it! Tudor’s modus operandi is to do the gold bits in a brushed finish, which tones them down just enough.

Rolex GMT-Master II Meteorite

I’ve only just begun uploading the 2019 Rolex novelties. There’s still loads and loads to come. Of the handful that I’ve added to date the GMT-Master 126719BLRO-0002 is a firm favorite. A white gold case, ceramic Pepsi bezel, and a meteorite dial. It’s over-the-top and totally awesome.

See you next week!
