6498-1 CT EDITION description
The ETA 6498-1 CT Edition is a hand-wound mechanical movement based on the proven Unitas 6498-1 architecture, modified and hand-finished by watchmaker Yutaro Iizuka for CHRONOTHEORY&Co. This customized version retains the traditional 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz) beat rate and manual winding system, offering a power reserve of approximately 46 hours.
Distinguishing features include hand-filed bridge chamfers with return angles, mirror-polished surfaces, and a proprietary semicircular Côtes de Genève decoration—claimed to be the first of its kind in Japan—applied using a wooden rotary tool. The bridges and baseplate are plated with 24K gold, lending the movement a deep, saturated tone. Additional refinements include polished screw sinks, gears finished to the tooth tips, and a Triovis regulator for fine adjustment. The movement is equipped with 17 jewels.
