ChronoTheory & Co CTW-027-Black description
The CHRONOTHEORY&Co AV-98 Piano Forte Black CTW-027-Black debuted in 2025 as part of the brand’s inaugural release. This version features a black polished lacquer dial with yellow gold-colored applied Breguet numerals and matching hands.
The 42mm stainless steel case is inspired by mid-20th-century dress watches and manufactured by Kyowa Seiko. It is cut from a single block of steel, with three-dimensional curved surfaces and precisely machined lugs featuring deployable planar surfaces at 3 and 9 o'clock. The finishing includes Zaratsu polishing and hand-finishing to reduce optical distortion. Water resistance is rated at 6 ATM, supported by full gasket integration across all junctions, including a box-shaped sapphire crystal.
This watch is powered by a manually wound 6498-1 CT EDITION, based on the ETA 6498-1 and custom-finished by watchmaker Yutaro Iizuka. The bridges are hand-beveled and decorated with proprietary half-circle Côtes de Genève, then gold-plated. Polished click components provide a smooth tactile winding experience.
The dial is manufactured by Shokosha and features a one-piece brass construction. The small seconds subdial is machined into the base plate and selectively replated and lacquered. The dial is 0.4mm thick and fitted with approximately 0.15mm high applied numerals, all drawn in-house to reflect vintage influences from the 1930s and 1940s.
The AV-98 Piano Forte Black is fitted with an alligator strap and stainless steel deployant clasp. It comes in a full-leather carrying case designed for practical daily use. No presentation box is included. Warranty is 3 years.
