TAG Heuer CBW218B.FT8124 : Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1

TAG Heuer CBW218B.FT8124 description

The TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph “Air” CBW218B.FT8124 was introduced in 2025 as one of four variants in the Monaco Split-Seconds concept series. The watch is housed in a square 41 mm case constructed in grade-5 titanium, combining polished and brushed surfaces. The case architecture follows the traditional Monaco layout, with the crown positioned on the left side of the case and the chronograph pushers located on the right. The front crystal is sapphire with anti-reflective treatment, matched by a sapphire caseback secured by screws. The model integrates a split-seconds (rattrapante) mechanism within the case, a configuration designed to make the complication visible from both the dial and movement sides.

This reference is powered by the calibre TH81-00, a self-winding split-seconds chronograph movement developed in collaboration with Vaucher. The calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 65 hours. The movement construction places the majority of the split-seconds mechanism on the dial side, where the rattrapante clamp components, split-seconds column wheel, and chronograph brake elements are visible. The oscillating weight is mounted on the back of the movement and is partially skeletonised to ensure visibility of the bridges and split-seconds components beneath.

The dial is fully openworked, exposing the chronograph architecture. The “Air” model is distinguished by blue-colored components and finishing details, including the chronograph elements, movement plates, and bridges associated with this variant. Time is displayed by central hour and minute hands, accompanied by two central chronograph hands for the chronograph seconds and split-seconds seconds. A 30-minute chronograph counter is located at 3 o’clock, and running seconds at 6 o’clock. The tachymeter and chronograph scales are printed on a transparent upper layer integrated into the dial structure.

The watch is fitted with a rubber strap featuring a fabric-textured outer surface, secured by a titanium folding clasp. The strap integrates directly with the case to match the geometry of the square case shape.
