TH20-04 description
The TAG Heuer calibre TH20-04 is an automatic chronograph movement with an integrated mechanical tide indicator, developed specifically for the Carrera Chronograph Seafarer. It is based on the TH20 architecture and incorporates additional gearing to drive the tidal display.
The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides a power reserve of approximately 80 hours. Automatic winding is achieved via a centrally mounted rotor shaped in the TAG Heuer shield motif.
Chronograph operation is controlled by a column wheel and vertical clutch, ensuring precise engagement and smooth pusher feel. The chronograph display consists of a central chronograph seconds hand, a 30-minute counter, and a small seconds indication.
The tide indicator is adjusted via a dedicated pusher positioned at 9 o’clock. Once synchronised with local tide information, the tide disc completes one full rotation over a 29.53125-day cycle, corresponding to the lunar tidal period. The disc is divided into quadrants indicating high and low tide, allowing continuous visual tracking of tidal phases.
The calibre TH20-04 is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback and is finished with industrial-grade decoration consistent with TAG Heuer’s modern in-house chronograph movements.
