Patek Philippe 5177G-033 description
The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5177G-033 & 5177G-034 are created for the 2023 Patek Philippe Tokyo exhibition. A red-crowned crane, or Japanese Crane, emblem of the land of the rising sun and a symbol of peace, good fortune and longevity, takes pride of place on the dial of these two limited editions of 5 watches each, in grisaille enamel au blanc de Limoges. To represent this bird beloved of painters – with bamboo and a pagoda (5177G-033) or in full flight, with mountain peaks and a branch of cherry blossom (5177G-034) – the artist sculpted the oil-based white enamel known as blanc de Limoges using a tiny brush and a needle on a base of opaque black enamel to obtain skillful monochromes. Miniature painting on enamel created the red patch on the bird’s head, while the beak was fashioned in gold powder. Each dial required an average of 13 firings at temperatures ranging from 600°C to 800°C. The bezels are adorned with the famous Clous de Paris or hobnail pattern emblematic of the Patek Philippe style
