Patek Philippe 5077/100G-048 description
The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5077/100G-048 is a limited edition of 10 pieces created for the 2023 Patek Philippe Tokyo exhibition. To create the Grand Feu cloisonné enamel dial of this limited edition of 10 watches, Patek Philippe drew inspiration from a kimono fabric of the 1920s adorned with a traditional Japanese motif. For the outlines of the stylized waves, the enameller first laid down 76 cm of gold wire (~0.51 g) measuring 0.05 x 0.45 mm and 0.10 x 0.45 mm in cross-section, cut into tiny segments and shaped by hand before being fixed to the base plate. To introduce his harmony of yellow, blue and green he then worked with a palette of 24 enamel colors, mainly semi-opaque, but with some translucent or opaque. Each dial called for an average of 7 firings at a temperature of 800°C. The bezel and lugs are set with 112 diamonds (~0.87 ct) and the prong buckle sparkles with 29 diamonds (~0.24 ct). An alligator leather strap in shiny turquoise green provides an elegant echo of the combined dial colors.
