Nomos Glashütte 953 description
The NOMOS Lambda 39 953 was introduced in 2015 as the smaller 39mm rose gold version of the Lambda collection. This reference combines an 18k rose gold case with a white silver-plated dial, tempered blue steel hands, and the large power reserve display characteristic of the Lambda line. It belongs to NOMOS’ Atelier collection and is powered by the manually wound DUW 1001, which uses twin mainspring barrels to provide an 84-hour power reserve.
The rose gold case measures 39.0mm in diameter, 9.1mm in height, and 47.9mm from lug to lug. It is fitted with sapphire crystal glass on the front and a sapphire crystal case back. Water resistance is rated at 3 atm, making the watch splash-proof. Compared with the 42mm Lambda models, this version keeps the same movement architecture and overall dial concept in a more compact precious-metal case.
The galvanized white silver-plated dial is structured around the broad power reserve indicator across the upper half of the dial. A small seconds display is positioned at 6 o’clock, balancing the long arc of the reserve scale. The hands are made of steel and tempered blue, creating a stronger contrast than the rose gold or rhodium-plated hands used on other Lambda references. The fine dial markings and elongated hands keep the display visually light despite the prominent power reserve indication.
Inside is the NOMOS DUW 1001, a manually wound Atelier movement with twin mainspring barrels and a power reserve of up to 84 hours. It measures 3.6mm in height and 32.0mm in diameter, with 29 jewels. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back and includes Glashütte-style finishing, including a hand-engraved balance cock. The watch is fitted to a brown cushioned remborde Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap with a 20mm lug width.
