953 description
Calibre 953 is a manual-winding movement developed entirely in-house by Jaeger-LeCoultre specifically for the Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater. It integrates seven patented technologies, notably trébuchet hammers (patent EP2048548A2), crystal gongs (patent CH698533), and silent-interval elimination (patent CH709152B1), each designed to optimize sound quality. Despite the high energy demands of the minute repeater complication, the calibre maintains an impressive 48-hour power reserve.
Measuring 28 mm by 34.4 mm with a thickness of 6.65 mm, Calibre 953 comprises 462 components and 72 jewels. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). In addition to the minute repeater, it provides hours and minutes displayed identically on both front and back dials.
