IWC Vintage Collection watches
The Vintage Collection was launched in 2008 in celebration of 140 years of IWC Schaffhausen. Six iconic models from IWC's past were reimagined for this anniversary: the Pilot's Watch, the Portuguese, the Ingenieur, the Aquatimer, Da Vinci and the Portofino.
The Vintage Collection Pilot's Watch is inspired by IWC's first pilot's watch, the one made in 1936. It features a bidrectional rotating ring and a handwound movement. The Portuguese (or Portugieser) is based on the 1939 model. The Ingenieur took cues from the 1955 '666' Ingenieur. For the Aquatimer, IWC looked back to 1967, while the Da Vinci was inspired by the unusual 1969 BETA 21 model. While looking decisively vintage, the Portofino is actually based on a model made in 1985: the famous 'Spiegelei'.
