The Glashütte Original Senator Observer 1-00-14-05-02-55 debuted in 2012 and is housed in a 44 mm stainless steel case with alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces. Drawing from the tradition of marine chronometers and deck watches, it features a highly legible dial layout combined with a modern automatic movement, the in-house calibre 100-14.
The multi-layered lacquer dial has a fine silver-grained finish, with subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock, a power reserve indicator at 3, and the brand’s signature Panorama Date at 6 o’clock. Black printed Arabic numerals and a minute track encircle the dial, complemented by blued and polished hands.
Inside, the calibre 100-14 is an automatic movement with 55 hours of power reserve. Despite its historical references, the watch opts for modern convenience with bi-directional winding and bayonet-mounted construction for added robustness. A sapphire case back reveals Glashütte striping, blued screws, and a 21-ct gold oscillating weight.
