TH80-00 description
The TAG Heuer Calibre TH80-00 is an automatic chronograph movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, or 5Hz, with a power reserve of 70 hours and 47 jewels. It is COSC-certified and equipped with TAG Heuer’s TH-Carbonspring oscillator, combining high-frequency operation with magnetic resistance and chronometric stability.
Its most distinctive feature is a compliant chronograph mechanism built around flexible bistable components rather than the conventional arrangement of levers and springs used for the start, stop, and reset functions. Two such components are used: one governing start and stop, the other reset. These parts were developed by TAG Heuer LAB and produced using LIGA technology.
The movement uses an inverted construction that places the barrel, gear train, balance, and escapement on the dial side. Its architecture is also openworked, and the automatic winding system was newly developed for this calibre. On the reverse, the movement features a checkered-flag finish and a shield-shaped oscillating weight.
In functional terms, the calibre displays hours, minutes, seconds, and chronograph indications. The compliant chronograph system is designed to deliver consistent actuation and stable operating behaviour over time.
