The Audemars Piguet × Swatch Royal Pop collection was introduced in 2026 as a collaborative Bioceramic pocket-watch series combining design references from the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with the wearable concept of the Swatch POP watches of the 1980s. The collection translates the Royal Oak’s rounded octagonal case architecture, hexagonal bezel screws, and tapisserie-style dial language into a Swatch format designed to be worn and used in multiple ways.
Rather than following a conventional wristwatch construction, Royal Pop models are built around a pocket-watch style case with a removable clip system. Depending on the configuration, the watch head can be worn with a lanyard, carried, attached, or placed on a small stand for use as a desk watch. The case, crown, lanyard attachment, holder clip, and hexagonal screws are made of Bioceramic, Swatch’s composite material combining ceramic powder with biosourced material derived from castor oil.
The collection uses Royal Oak-derived external architecture, including an octagonal bezel with hexagonal screws and vertical satin finishing on the bezel and case back. The dials carry a tapisserie effect, while the front and rear sapphire crystals feature anti-reflective coating. The transparent case back gives a partial view of the hand-wound SISTEM51 movement.
Royal Pop models are produced in two display formats. Lépine-style versions place the winding crown at 12 o’clock and use a simplified two-hand layout for hours and minutes. Savonnette-style versions place the crown at 3 o’clock and add a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock.
The collection is powered by a hand-wound version of Swatch’s SISTEM51 mechanical movement. In its Royal Pop execution, the movement is specified with a Nivachron balance spring, laser-based factory precision adjustment, and a power reserve of more than 90 hours. Its barrel drum also serves as a visible power-reserve indication: grey chambers reveal the coils of the mainspring when the watch requires winding, while gold chambers indicate that the mainspring is fully compressed.
