Rolex 124205-0002 description
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 34 124205-0002 debuted in 2026 as a precious-metal addition to the Oyster Perpetual collection, combining the line’s 34 mm format with a blue lacquer dial and a full Everose gold exterior. Within the 2026 Oyster Perpetual introductions, this reference is distinguished by the use of natural-stone hour markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, bringing an unusual material detail to one of Rolex’s most restrained three-hand watches without altering the underlying simplicity of the Oyster Perpetual format.
Its Oyster case measures 34 mm in diameter and follows the familiar architecture of the collection, with a monobloc middle case, screw-down case back, and Twinlock screw-down winding crown. The domed bezel preserves the smooth outline associated with the Oyster Perpetual line, while the sapphire crystal and 100-metre water resistance maintain the robust specifications expected of the Oyster case. In this version, the precious-metal construction is paired with predominantly satin-finished surfaces, polished case sides, and a polished bezel, giving the watch a softer and more textured appearance than a fully polished treatment would have produced.
The dial is the defining element of this reference. Rolex presents it in blue lacquer and pairs it with dumortierite markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Characterised by intermittent patches of pale and deeper blue, this mineral gives those three markers a visibly different surface character from the remaining applied indexes. Their upper surface is given an ogive cut intended to emphasise the structure and colour of the stone while limiting reflection. The remaining markers and the hands are executed in pink gold and filled with Chromalight, preserving the standard time-only display while adding a more unusual material contrast within the familiar Oyster Perpetual layout.
Inside is Rolex calibre 2232, a self-winding manufacture movement with centre hours, minutes, and seconds, stop-seconds for precise setting, and a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and uses a Syloxi silicon hairspring, a paramagnetic nickel-phosphorus escape wheel, a balance with variable inertia regulated by two gold Microstella nuts, and Paraflex shock absorbers. As in the other smaller Oyster Perpetual references of this launch, the movement keeps the focus on straightforward functionality and compact automatic construction.
The Oyster bracelet is fitted with three-piece solid links, a folding Oysterclasp, and the Easylink comfort extension system allowing approximately 5 mm of adjustment. In the gold Oyster Perpetual models, Rolex also uses ceramic inserts inside the links to reduce wear and improve flexibility on the wrist. The result is a reference that stays close to the essential Oyster Perpetual formula in structure and function, but stands apart through its blue lacquer dial and the use of dumortierite markers within an otherwise highly restrained design.
