IWC is celebrating the 75th birthday of the Portugieser watch family and, in the Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “75th Anniversary”, provides an extremely attractive reminder of the ur-Portugieser. The red gold model (Reference IW510206) with its silver-plated dial comes in the same colours as its historic predecessor with a company logo virtually identical to the original. The inner chapter ring, the hour indices and Arabic numerals are finished in bold gold-brown and outlined in black. In the stainless-steel version (Reference IW510205), which has a matte black dial, the coloured elements are pale green. The only new feature is the date display at “6 o’clock”, an additional function that is de rigueur in a watch made for the 21st century. In order to preserve the characteristic simplicity of the dial, the power reserve display has been positioned on the movement side of the watch. When fully wound, the IWC-manufactured 59215 calibre provides a reliable source of energy for eight days. The indexless Glucydur®* beryllium alloy balance oscillates at a frequency of 4 hertz or 28,800 beats per hour. The watch is available in a limited edition of 175 in 18-carat red gold and 750 in stainless steel. All models are fitted with exclusive Santoni alligator leather straps.
