Caliber 79350 is the successor to the 79240, which it replaced around 2007. The finishing is slightly different; other than that the movements are identical. Based on the Valjoux 7750, IWC's 79350 is a highly reliable workhorse. In comparison to its base, it dropped the small seconds scale, date and day window. It is produced to IWC's exceedingly high standards and only a small portion of the standard 7750 parts are used.
Introduced during Dubai Watch Week 2016, the IWC Portugieser reference IW3714-89 is a limited edition of 200 pieces made by IWC in collaboration with their Dubai partner Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. It features a blue dial with sunburst finish, where all numerals are done in Eastern-Arabic script; the hour markers, the minute track, and the numerals for the chronograph subdials. The case back is engraved with the logo of the Al Jalila Foundation, which will receive parts of the proceeds.
