This Week: IWC, Audemars Piguet, Glashuette Original and Laco

2019/06/08 by Dale Vito

Whoops, I skipped a week! We had a public holiday, I did some cycling in Belgium, and one of our team members was off – which means it was pretty uneventful here on WatchBase.

This week I ramped it up. I’m nearing the completion of our update of the Glashuette Original collection, which was a pretty heavy project. Again, our intern Ruben worked on his Laco stuff and is almost finished with that too. Here and there we added a few other new watches too. Our favs?

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar White Ceramic

Okay, it’s a bit bling, but come on – this is hot right? All you need this summer is a nice tan, a blue linen shirt and a pair of swimming shorts and this AP. LINK!

IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month

I must admit that I’m not the biggest fan of this generation of IWC’s Ingenieur. The more pedestrian variations look too dull and generic. But spice it up with the brand’s digital perpetual calendar chronograph movement and it’s perfect. LINK!

Glashuette Original PanoMatic Lunar

As said I again added a bunch of new GO’s. This week’s favorite? I think it’s the PanoMatic Lunar in stainless steel – blue. With a pin buckle, just because. LINK!

Laco Squad Watch Mojave

Laco is best known for its pilot’s watches, but this dive watch doesn’t look to shabby either. LINK!

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra Thin

Another Royal Oak, another Perpetual Calendar? Yes, but this is the production version of the RD#2 of SIHH 2018. A mind-boggling exercise in fine mechanical engineering. LINK!

This Week: Panerai, Glashuette Original, TAG Heuer and Laco

2019/05/25 by Dale Vito

Hi guys!

Over the past week I’ve started a much overdo update of our Glashütte Original entries – and not quite finished yet! Ruben has been working on his Laco project, while we’ve also had a few wildcards added here and there. Our favorites?

Panerai Luminor 1950 Paneristi PAM01080

Another Paneristi edition? No problem if they look as good as this one? The Pam 1080 is a limited edition of 60 pieces created for the German-speaking markets. It’s basedd on the 372 but with a cool brown dial and other subbtle tweaks. LINK!

Glashütte Original SeaQ 1969

What are your thoughts on the new SeaQ by Glashuette Original? I’m not sure yet and I’d love to see one in the metal before my final judgement! LINK!

Glashütte Original PanoLunar Tourbillon

The Pano-series is the quintessential Glashütte Original and the PanoLunar Tourbillon is one of the best – especially on this matte alligator strap. LINK!

TAG Heuer Monaco 1969-1979

The TAG Heuer Monaco CAW211V.FC646 is the first (likely of many) piece introduced in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Monaco. It’s boutique-only, limited to 169 pieces – so run! LINK!

Laco Pilot Watch Venedig

Ruben has made great steps with our Laco database. There’s so many pilot’s watches it’s hard to choose one, but I quite like this one with full-lumi dial. Not sure what the link is with Venice though? LINK!

10000 watches!

Omega Seamaster 300m Spectre

Yeah guys – finally made it to 10.000!

It’s been some 8 months since the 3k update, so about 1.000 watches a month – that’s taking my holidays into account.

Few points worth noting;

  • Vacheron Constantin current catalogue is (nearly) complete.
  • Glashütte Original current catalogue is complete.
  • A. Lange & Söhne full catalogue is slowly progressing. I’m adding rare references every time I come across a picture.
  • Few smaller brands such as Defakto & Steinhart also have their full current catalogues online. These are including price lists. I will work on that for the others.
  • There are now almost 1.000 calibers in our database – 972.
  • I’m currently working on Zenith which is fun and should be done quite soon; then I’m planning on getting ready for auction season with a focus on vintage and next up SIHH and BaselWorld. Time flies.

That’s it for now – I’ll be in touch soon. And yes, the Spectre wristshot is completely random.
